by Frankie Banali, 2020
A study in perspective, Lotus Seed and Bamboo fuses Japanese influence and abstract expressionism through two distinctly different sides of the work. Banali states, "My painting is like my drumming. There is a rhythm and timing to the strokes and while I know where I want to start and finish, I always leave space for improvisation and surprises. That is why I never play a song the same way twice. Yes, I adhere to the key points but leave room for self expression."
